A 15-year-old girl from Nacogdoches, Texas, might have broken the all-tackle world record for wahoo, catching a 184-pounder July 29 off Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Sara Hayward, fishing with her dad aboard captain Gerry Martinez’s Pez Espada. The fish has been submitted to the International Game Fish Association for certification.

THE Glenelg tyre reef, scene of yesterday’s fatal shark attack, is a popular spot with local divers. A 23-year-old marine biologist, identified by The Advertiser as Jarrod Stehbens, was taken by a shark and thought killed when he was attacked while diving at the reef.
